Letter: Deaf need video relay service

Re: What would it be like to live in a Deaf world?. Nov. 16

One important aspect of Deaf World that was not covered in this piece was the issue of Video Relay Service (VRS), a videotelecommunication service that allows Deaf and hard of hearing people to communicate with hearing people in real time over video telephones via a sign language interpreter.

Pushing for VRS to be adopted more broadly is a very important advocacy issue in the Deaf community right now, and raising awareness of this issue was a central part of the Deaf World event.
