Celebrating girls and their quest for careers

Every year, Oct. 11 is observed as the International Day of the Girl Child.

This year Build a Dream and Enbridge Gas inc. is hosting their largest celebration in honour of this day, starting Oct. 4 in Toronto.

The Dreamer Day Fest 2022 will span two days with a gala on Oct. 4 and a festival-style event on Oct. 5.

International Day of the Girl Child is celebrated to bring to light the various challenges that young women and girls face across the globe.

Dreamer Day Fest aims to honour this vision by focusing on the struggles that women and girls face in choosing career paths and entering the work force.

Olivia Filipov, marketing associate from Build a Dream, shared that everyone is welcome to participate in the fest.

“Build a Dream has skillfully planned the agenda of the event to appeal to as many demographics as possible,” she said.

The festival, taking place at the Enercare Centre will have a main stage that will host keynote speakers, a youth choir, and a musical performance from singer Jax.

The venue will also have more than 50 exhibitors with interactive elements at their booths, a food court, photobooths, and emergency response vehicles.

“Dreamer Day, and International Day of the Girl, is extremely important to build a dream because we are passionate about helping young women and girls, and anyone who identifies as a woman, to find their passions and follow their dreams,” Filipov shared. “Diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the heart of our values, and we work with corporate partners across Canada to bridge gaps and improve their initiatives.”

This will provide an opportunity for young women and girls to network with mentors and explore possible career paths.

Post-Secondary students can purchase a ticket at a discount from their website.
