Midterms are here, and students must brace themselves to deal with the sudden influx of assignments, projects and tests.. As students balance their time between classes and jobs, our college has various resources that students can access to ease their burden and help them succeed academically.

GBC’s Tutoring and Learning Centre (TLC) is the best place to start. Being the main academic support system for the college, the TLC is where struggling students can access one-on-one tutoring services in multiple areas such as essay writing, ESL, accounting and math. Both scheduled and drop-in sessions are available.

Students can also attend workshops, online tutorials or practice material at their convenience. If you need any help with your subjects, you can visit the TLC here.

To access resources, databases and a wide range of books on different subjects, GBC students can check out the Library Learning Commons (LLC) offerings.

With a diverse collection of learning aids available, LLC also helps students with skills such as learning to cite their sources in multiple formats and how to research for assignments for your specific course.

Similar to those resources, Indigenous Education and Services (IES) is specifically tailored to Indigenous students, Here, they can obtain academic, career and emotional counselling. The IES also provides access to computers and printers at their study centres, which operate from St. James Campus as well as the Casa Loma Campus.

Additionally, Accessible Learning Services (ALS) works towards aiding students with disabilities in gaining equal footing and inclusivity in their academics by facilitating access to sign-language interpreters and computerized note-takers. Besides this, students can register with ALS and request accommodations as per their specific needs.

Beyond academic resources, reflection rooms have been created at all campuses to practice meditation or simply rest in order to deal with stress and anxiety in an optimal way.

Both PeerConnect and GBC’s counselling services are committed to the mental well-being of students and can direct them to appropriate resources and programs.
