This week, George Brown College (GBC) is participating in Women Entrepreneurship Week 2021, a global event intent on inspiring women to get interested in running their own businesses. startGBC, Enactus, Youth Going Forward and GBC Gaming Incubator have collaborated to celebrate the occasion with various events during Women’s Entrepreneurship Week from October 18 to October 22.
Although the number of women-led businesses in Canada is on the rise, the journey itself is still challenging. To assist young women on the path to entrepreneurship, the event will acquaint students with women such as Bobbi Brown and Melissa Gorga, who have established a significant legacy in female entrepreneurship.
The virtual event will begin on October 18, with an open discussion on the experiences of renowned female entrepreneurs.
Additionally, young female entrepreneurs can become familiar with potential obstacles in running a business and respective strategies they can use to overcome them in a panel featuring entrepreneurs like Monah Water, Karen Barbalat, Mutiat Olaniyan and Katherine Feldman.
In the upcoming days, Nesh Pillay, an expert in digital communications, will assist women in building their unique brand in her session “You the Brand.” This will be followed by a talk on the path to self-discovery and mindfulness with Lizelle Marpa Tucci.
GBC female alumni in entrepreneurial careers will guide young women in their forum “Why Not Me?”, where their career journeys will be the center of discussion. The panel will be on the last day of the event, October 22.
Women Entrepreneurship Week will bring various opportunities to empower young women from diverse backgrounds to build connections in the business world and ask any burning questions they may have about their desired career path.
Students who wish to attend any of these events can register here.
