Fire at GBC’s St. James campus forces evacuation

Staff and students at 200 King St., the biggest building at George Brown College’s (GBC) St. James Campus, were forced to evacuate after a fire broke out earlier on Thursday.

There have been no reports of injuries so far.

Hooman Farhangnia, campus manager at Casa Loma campus, said the fire was caused by contractors working on the sixth floor of the building. He did not provide an estimate on when the building will re-open for students.

When reached, Toronto Emergency Services declined to comment.

More information to come.
