Recount confirms Kushagra Manchanda as international students representative

After a recount, V3’s Kushagra Manchanda has been confirmed as the Student Association’s international students representative elect.

The recount was triggered after the original count showed Manchanda with just a seven vote margin of victory.

The final tally was 371 votes for Manchanda and 358 votes for Aman Sheth from Act Now.

There were 13 rejected ballots, and 624 ballots were unmarked.

For the first time, a composite ballot was used  in the SA elections that included the international students representative position on all ballots regardless if the student voting was an international student or not.

In total 1362 ballots were cast in the election for an overall voter turnout of 6.54 per cent. The number of international students who were eligible to vote was not available.

According to a George Brown College factsheet, international students make up 15 per cent of students at the college.
