The Chef School is buzzing with chit-chats, because Chef Alain Ducasse is coming to George Brown College (GBC). As an internationally renowned, and multi-Michelin starred chef, Ducasse will be visiting GBC as part of the Culinary Cities of the World Series.

Hosted by the centre for hospitality and culinary arts on Oct. 15, the event will recognize and celebrate Ducasse’s contribution to French cuisine while accentuating Paris and Lyon on the world map.

The event will also help students learn what inspires a chefs creativity, and how to manage their culinary careers.

Recognized as a culinary legend, and having been mentored by some of France’s most famous chefs, Ducasse will take part in a question and answer period hosted by Chuck Hughes, where he will reflect on his diverse achievements which include 22 top-tier restaurants in nine countries.

According to GBC’s website, “he will also share his views on why it’s important to pass on his knowledge to the next generation, and how culinary education can make a difference in helping the less-fortunate find work and access to a better life.”

“In Conversation with Alain Ducasse” will take place at 6 p.m. in Theatre 406 at 290 Adelaide St. E, followed by a wine and cheese reception at the Grand Atrium—300 Adelaide St. E at 7 p.m..

As another part of the event, The French Culinary Market taking place on Oct. 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Grand Atrium, will allow attendees to “discover a superb selection of the palate-pleasing fare of Paris and Lyon prepared by 15 local celebrity chefs, including Jason Bangerter of Langdon Hall, Alexandra Feswick of The Drake, and Anthony Walsh of Oliver & Bonacini,” according to GBC.

Books by both chefs will be available for sale and signing, and tickets for both events can be purchased online through the GBC bookstore for $25 and $75; currently there are a limited number of tickets available to the public for the French Culinary Market.
