CNE returns with food, fun and entertainment.
School is around the corner but summer isn’t over just yet.
The 2026 Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) opened Aug. 21 at Toronto’s Exhibition place and will run until Sept. 7, 2026.

CNE has become a Toronto end-of-summer tradition, bringing together rides, games, live entertainment, shopping and, of course, some of the city’s wildest food creations.
The grounds are filled with food options, from fair favourites to food you might not come across every day.
For some, though, the search for the perfect CNE treat starts as soon as they walk through the gates.
Edward Holland, who enjoys a pineapple Dole Whip from Lalu Fun Foods, had a simple recommendation for anyone visiting the CNE.
“First port of call. When you come, come here first,” Holland said.
The Dole Whip, a pineapple-based gluten-free and vegan treat, is a familiar favourite for anyone who has visited Disney parks or travelled to Hawaii. At the CNE, Lalu Fun Foods offers its own version, along with other tropical flavours.
For something different, visitors can also stop by Kalamata Ltd., which offers Turkish delights, baklava and pastries.
The CNE experience goes well beyond what’s on the menu.
At Quick Draw Caricatures, visitors can have a cartoon portrait drawn by artists in roughly five to 10 minutes. Justin Smith who is an artist, highlights the novelty attraction.
“It’s super fun. It’s a cute little memento that’s made by real artists from all over continental North America.”
No trip to the CNE is complete without making your way to the midway, where CNE feels most alive. The sounds of carnival games, music and the sounds of people enjoying the rides are hard to miss.
Take in the view from above if walking from one end to the other starts to feel like a workout, with the Sky Ride giving visitors a bird’s-eye view of the fairground and the Toronto skyline.
Even if you’re not planning to go on a ride, walking through the midway gives you a feel of the energy at the Ex.
For visitors who have been coming to the CNE for years, there are also a few new things to look out for.
Staff working at the CNE Information booth, mention the Big Drop Trampoline show and the Big Dig High Dive show as the new attractions.
Visitors can also stop by the new drip merchandise and coffee shop for some souvenirs and a quick coffee break.
And if rides are not your thing, there is still so much to explore. CNE brings together exhibits, vendors, shopping and entertainment.
Performances and shows take place throughout the exhibition, offering visitors a break between food stops and rides.
The CNE is much bigger than it looks, so getting from one hall to another might take longer than you expect.
Whether you’re visiting for the food, the rides, the performances, or to simply enjoy one last summer outing with friends and family, there is plenty to keep you busy for the day.
