This year’s Audible Indigenous Writers’ Circle is open for application.
Audible first launched the program in 2021, aiming to boost the voices of indigenous writers in Canada. It is a writing workshop for discovering potential indigenous writers and supporting their industrial development.
This six-month mentorship and workshop program is for individuals who identify themselves as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis, and would like to develop their career as Indigenous writers.
Accepted applicants will be paired with mentors who will guide them to reach their goals as creators or writers. Participants will be supported throughout the thinking, writing and editing processes.
This year’s program will be starting in summer 2023.
Connecting and learning from established Indigenous writers is key in this program. Participants will benefit from a variety of community resources, including mentorships and immersive workshops with publishers, industry creators, established writers or marketers.
Individuals who self-identify as Indigenous and considering a career in literary arts are invited to apply for the program. Those with previous training in writing will also be considered.
A 500-word personal reflection and one sample of work must be submitted by every applicant.
The age requirement for applying to the program is at least 18 years old on or by Jan 1, 2023.
There is no application fee applied.
Considering the costs needed to attend the program session, there is a bursary CA$1,500 for participants who successfully enroll in the program.
Deadline to apply is Friday, Apr 14 at 11:59 p.m., PDT
Results will be released around June. 30, 2023.
