As of July 5, George Brown College (GBC) has announced that the e-mail system and Stuview are back up and running, after being shut down due to a suspected malware infection on the evening that occurred on the evening of June 13.
Although it says there has been no indication of a data breach at this time, the college has issued an automatic college-wide password reset as an additional security precaution. It is essential that all students reset their passwords before accessing GBC platforms.
GBC notes that any emails that were sent between June 9 to July 4 were not received.
Following the password reset, Blackboard login will return back to normal, with students being advised to enter their student ID followed by @georgebrown.ca, along with their new passwords. Students are now also able to log in to Stuview to register for their programs, add or drop courses, view and pay fees, track admissions applications, book tests, and apply for transfer credits and student awards.
If students are having difficulty accessing systems that are now running (email, STU-VIEW, MS Teams or Blackboard), they are advised to contact the Help Desk at 416-415-5000 ext. 4357. GBC says that wait-times are currently longer than usual due to a high frequency of calls being received.
Our Call Centre and Helpdesk phone lines are experiencing an uptick in inquiries. Our team is responding as quickly as possible, however, our average wait time is about 45 minutes. We appreciate your patience and apologize for the inconvenience. pic.twitter.com/uHivZMcTHO
