On the evening of Sunday, June 13, George Brown College (GBC) announced that all college-related IT systems were immediately shut down due to a suspected malware infection. This led all in-person and online classes, services, and clinics to be cancelled on Monday, June 14.
As of right now, the only software available is Microsoft Teams for GBC students.
On-campus, the services remaining open are the child care centre at the Casa Loma Campus, other lab schools, and student placements outside of the campus.
Students who were affected by the announcement reported their concerns on social media, with some stating that they cannot access tests or contact their professors.
Test at 8 am tomorrow, can't access gbc emails or reach profs.

Furthermore, some GBC students feel that the announcement was suspicious. They were unsure why the college informed the students later than expected.
Was it a ransomware attack? Also, why did it take well over 14 hours to inform everyone?

As of right now, the college has not given any updates regarding the malware infection as of yet, however, they did state that employees should work offline and ask for further direction.
