GBC professor Jennifer Grant named new director of anti-racism, equity & human rights services

George Brown College has announced that Jennifer Grant will be moving into the new position of director of anti-racism, equity, and human rights services at a part-time capacity starting March 1, 2020.

Grant’s position was created in the summer of 2020 alongside the director of Indigenous initiatives to satisfy objective two of GBC’s anti-racism strategy which is to increase Black, Indigenous and racialized student and employee community representation, engagement and capacity.

Grant is an internal hire who has been teaching at GBC for 14 years. She continues to serve as a faculty member within the Child and Youth Care program and will transition into her new director position part-time to finish this semester’s teaching and research responsibilities. There is no official date set yet for when Grant will transition into the position at a full-time capacity.

In her role as the new director, Grant will be expected to lead the office of anti-racism, equity and humans rights services which include working with GBC’s anti-racism initiatives, human rights support, sexual violence prevention, privacy, and AODA.

Outside of GBC, Grant has been the Manager of Advocacy Services with the Provincial Advocate for Children and Youth and the Manager of Program Development and Implementation with Central Toronto Youth Services. From private practice, she also has experience in coaching, mentoring, and leading anti-oppressive consultations.
