George Brown College’s men’s and women’s team continue to win as the season progresses
Both men’s and women’s basketball teams brought home a win Tuesday. Nov. 6 in their own backyard. Facing off against Georgian, both teams had comfortable wins.
Beginning the night, the women started with an early lead of 14- 6 in the first quarter. The second and third quarters gained speed and the Huskies found themselves up 67–31. The Huskies went on to win the game 74–46.
Coach Warren Williams was pleased with how they played in the second and third quarter.
Between the two quarters, the Huskies scored a total of 53 points, lead by Tianna Sullivan who scored 22 points.
”In second and third quarter we really played our style, we really established the way we wanted to go, and fortunately we were able to get the win,” he said.
However in the final quarter Williams thought his squad could have pushed harder.
“I thought in the fourth quarter we really just took our foot off the gas too much.”
The women’s team has a 3-1 record and is currently ranked third in the eastern division.
Men’s basketball team dominates Georgian
The men carried on the success from the women’s game.
Starting off strong they ended the first quarter 28-16. They maintained consistent scoring throughout the next three quarters and ended with a score of 102–58.
Ayoub Mohamed lead the squad with 15 points, while Liban Mohamed, Kevon Guiseppi-Mascoe nad Kingslee D’Silva also put 14 points each on the scoreboard.
“Tonight they played with a lot of energy and a lot of purpose,” said coach Peter Sambu.
The men’s team is undefeated and maintain a prefect 5-0 record after five games.
Both teams are set to play against St. Lawrence College on Saturday, Nov. 10 beginning at 1 p.m. at the St. James campus gym.
