Police ask for help identifying man in photo who they say sexually assaulted a 24-year-old woman on a TTC bus at Sherbourne Street and Queen Street East on April 11
Toronto police are looking for a man wanted for sexually assaulting a 24-year-old woman on a Sherbourne bus near Queen Street East.
Police say that the woman boarded a northbound TTC bus at Sherbourne Street and Queen Street East around 7:50 p.m. on April 11.
Police say that a man entered the bus, sat beside the woman, and sexually assaulted her before quickly leaving the bus at the Sherbourne TTC station at Bloor Street East.
The man is described as late-30s-to-early-40s with black hair. He was wearing a beige-and-blue jacket, tan pants, and carrying a dark backpack.
“TTC takes sexual assault very seriously,” said Brad Ross, a spokesperson for the TTC, said in an email to The Dialog. “We work closely with police to help identify perpetrators in order to make arrests. Customers must feel safe and secure at all times on the TTC and we continue to work to make the TTC a safe system for all. “
In 2016, a Toronto Star investigation showed that there were 577 reported sexual assaults on TTC vehicles or property between 2011 and 2016.
