Today I was pleased to find out that Concordia University’s The Link has dedicated their latest issue to the topic of mental health.

Mental health as we all know, is a serious issue that is on the rise – everywhere.  As a strong promoter for mental health and issues surrounding it, I am more than ecstatic to see that students and student journalists are reaching out and spreading awareness.

My main concern pertaining to mental illness is ‘stigma.’  It is important that we as students, and the younger generation continue to make others aware that these issues are everywhere and the last thing we need to do is single out anyone on the basis of a mental issue – or any other disorder or illness.

Through campaigns, promotion, and conferences – such as this year’s Annual Mental Health Conference at George Brown College, we can all help in making a difference.

If there is any cause that you should believe in or take part in as a student, mental health is one of them.  Mental health is worth the effort and time.
