Men’s volleyball lose to Seneca

GBC finished the game full of fire as they tried to come back

George Brown College’s (GBC) men’s volleyball team fell just a little shy of the prize against Seneca.

GBC was off to a strong start and won the first set 25-19. But they couldn’t seem to keep that momentum going into the following two sets.

Seneca gained the lead early in both sets leaving a loss of 25-16, and 25-14.

But GBC didn’t give up there.

With a spirited final set, it looked like GBC might pull out an exciting comeback.

The bench cheered on their team from the sidelines, every point won made the team roar and had the crowd on the edge of their seats as the lead went back and forth between the teams.

“Set four with our backs against the wall, we brought a ton of energy a ton of fight and it was pretty exciting and a lot of fun,” said GBC’s head coach Garrett May. “But when you basically just give your opponent two sets in volleyball, it’s hard to come back from it.”

In the last few minutes of the game, Seneca pulled ahead and won the game 28 – 26.

GBC’s men’s team has currently won the same number of games that they’ve lost 7-7.

GBC faced another loss. when the women’s teams faced off. GBC’s women walked away with a loss of 3-0.

Both the men and women will face off against Durham on Wednesday, Jan. 30 starting with the women’s game at 6 pm.
