George Brown College (GBC) has received two grants, providing some good news for mechanical engineering and construction management students.

The $2.3 million from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council’s College and Community Innovation Program, and $1 million from the Canada Foundation for Innovation’s College−Industry Innovation fund will be put into motion this spring, implemented over a five year span.

“This funding will create industry partnerships and opportunities in two key areas of research growth for George Brown, building automation and building information modeling,” says Lisa Marchitto, corporate communications manager at GBC.

With this funding, GBC will be able to build up industry partnerships and create research opportunities. Faculty and students participating in the conducted projects will either count it as part of the program or come on as paid research assistants.

For more information can contact the GBC research office at research@georgebrown.ca.
