Women’s advocate, author and award-winner Ettie Rutherford will speak at GBC for International Women’s Day

Ettie Rutherford, a retired elementary school principal and author, is the guest speaker for the International Women’s Day event at George Brown College on March 10, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the St. James campus career services centre.

Ettie’s memoir tells her story of teenage pregnancy, spousal abuse and being left as a single mother to three sons and a daughter,

Overcoming adversity, Rutherford graduated with a bachelor of education, and a master degree in education from the University of Calgary and has won several awards.

Rutherford now develops and teaches comprehensive programs that help empower women and overcome the challenges in their lives.
